Hey friends,
First of all, what a wonderful first week we've had. Thank you all for supporting us in our quest to do something new and different.
I've got an exciting update for you today. Not only have we smashed through 2 of our first set of stretch goals, Backers have started getting sketched into the Expedition Journal!
Aren't they great? They're hand-drawn by our concept artist Ben Mills too!
But I'm getting ahead of myself...
Here's what we'll be covering in this update:
1) Unlocked Stretch Goals (and what's coming up)
2) First Backers Sketched In (and how you can be too)
3) Deep Delve Story Progress (and how backers have voted within it)
Let's get started...
Unlocked Stretch Goals
Wow, we're storming through our first set of stretch goals!
Let's see what we've unlocked so far by checking in on the handy "Loot Pile" Ruin's artist Brandon Ellis has created for us.
So far we can use the extra funds raised to unlock extensive Appendices for the Rise of the Liberator novel, AND Three Rare Lore Cards which will be added to EVERY PHYSICAL PLEDGE tier.
Next stop: £9,000 for a mystery Ruin story unlock! I've got all fingers crossed for this one - not only because I'm helping to write it!
Projects like ours rely heavily on people like yourself telling your friends about us. So please, if you can think of just one person who might enjoy our Indie Steampunk movement, send them towards the campaign. It would truly mean the world to all of us!
First Backers Sketched In
Ruin belongs to our community. That's why we're able to add our backers in as characters within the wider lore. Because you can do that when there are no corporate strings attached!
So, our concept artist has been hard at work looking over your Delver Characters on the Ruin Discord Server and sketching them into the Expedition Journal. Take a look!
Backers who take part in our interactive story are now getting cemented into Ruin lore forever.
It's a really fun time, despite the numerous questionable choices made by some characters. You know who you are, Smazmicks!
I can't wait to see this roster continue to expand every day. It's going to bring a tear to the eye for sure.
Do you want to get sketched in? Then jump onto the Ruin Discord Server and it'll guide you through the process. It's also super easy to get voting on the direction of the Deep Delve story that makes up the Expedition Journal reward.
But if you just want to spectate, that's fine too. We might just sketch you in anyway :)
Speaking of which...
Deep Delve Story Progress
Backers have been deciding the fate of an in-world expedition called "The Deep Delve," and they have made some wise and equally catastrophic choices so far!
This is a reminder that this story is happening RIGHT NOW and backers are getting written into the book RIGHT NOW.
If you want to join in and get voting on the direction of the story, then you can join the Ruin Discord Server here. It's really simple, and good fun.
Now let's check in on their progress down into the legendary Clockwork Bastion with artist Brandon Ellis' amazing Delve Map.
These stories are unlocked daily, with new votes to be cast, puzzles to solve, and chances for your character to shine.
The server is also a great chance to chat with the burgeoning Ruin community, including us on the development team (author, illustrator, etc).
Anyway, that's all for today's update. The next update will be centred around the main Rise of the Liberator novel and all the bonus content we're able to add to it.
As always, I'll be in the comments below if you have any questions, or simply want to chat :)
Speak soon!
Joseph
